Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live In New Orleans On Dvd

Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live In New Orleans. This is a live concert performance that I thought I would never witness. I have passed through New Orleans but have never visited, so obviously I didn't get to attend this live concert on the date that Maze and Frankie Beverly recorded it.

The funny thing is that when they visited Dayton, Ohio for this portion of the same tour I was a young radio personality at WDAO Dayton, Ohio (one of the top Black radio stations in the U.S. at the time) the afternoon preceding the concert night my radio station hosted a huge "meet and greet" at the University of Dayton's Arena parking lot.

Thousands of people showed up on a hot beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful day! And the crowd was thick with beautiful women! Man I was in heaven! I thought! But little did I know it was gonna get better.

I was a young announcer at the time, so this whole being around "stars" and huge crowds of fans thing to me was still fresh and new! So I'm bouncing in and out of the crowd enjoying the "vibe" and loving all of the attention I am getting! This is so much fun I can't even express it in words. And I'm getting paid!

Next thing you know the crowd buzz goes almost completely silent for about two seconds. And then they explode in cheers and applause! Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly were riding right up to the stage in two dark blue Cadillac Limousines with the darkest tinted windows you've ever seen.

These guys were so cool they didn't even wait for the chauffeur to open the doors for them. They piled out the limos and walked directly up on the stage where I was now at. Everybody, each and every member of the group smiled, spoke to me and shook my hand as they took the stage!

Imagine how I felt! To them it was just another day on the farm. For me a young man just barely out of high school it was a monumental moment! It was my home town, and a lot of the people who thought I was going to grow up to become a thug / gangster / convict were now looking up on a stage at me standing next to Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly. What a day!

And these guys were so nice. I only got to shake hands, say hello and a few words to the "star" of the show Frankie Beverly because he was on the microphone talking to the fans. But I did get to have casual conversations with some of the other band members. Small talk for sure. But what an experience for me!

The main thing that I took away from that up close experience with Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly was a ton of ladies telephone numbers! But seriously folks, once again I learned that huge "stars" can be very nice, down to earth people. These guys could have treated me like the "rookie" that I was, and "cold shouldered" me. On stage in front of thousands.

I'm sure I must have had a shocked expression on my face the whole time! Plus at that point in my career I'm also sure I was ego trippin' myself. I was getting a lot of undeserved attention because of my job. But these guys were very nice and cordial to me up on that stage. I'll never forget that beautiful hot sunny Saturday afternoon.

But guess what? I missed the live concert that night!! Yep! As a young air personality I was still paying my dues. I had to go sit in on one of my co worker's "show" so that he could go and enjoy the Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly "Joy & Pain live concert! So I missed the "mother" of all great live concert performances.

Dang!! Or so I thought! I just automatically assumed that I would never know that experience! And I had been so close to being able to attend that concert too! I'm on stage with these guy's and I still don't get to see the live concert. How strange is that?

Well fast forward 30 years to last night. February 2010. Thank you technology! I didn't even know that the Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live In New Orleans concert had been recorded on video. And I certainly didn't know it was available to the general public. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that it was for sale!

I couldn't wait to order it! well I just finished watching the dvd Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live In New Orleans in the privacy of my own home. A concert I thought I would never see. I have over the years owned the double fold out album, and the cd. I have "chilled" thousands of times to the music from the Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live In New Orleans concert.

I remember every time I would play a selection off of the Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live In New Orleans. cd or albums (back in the day) on my radio programs or at home I would always look at the album or cd cover and imagine what it must have been like to have attended that original live concert. Beautiful music and beautiful women! My type of atmosphere!

Last night watching. experiencing this concert for the first time was sort of like going back home. It was like recapturing a moment from a better time here in America. Back in the day. Before AIDS. Before herpes. before George W. Bush and Osama Bin Hidin'. Back when sex was safe, and politics was.... Well, o'kay politics hasn't changed. But in this case one out of two ain't bad!

This live concert was recorded November 15th 1980 at the Saenger Theater in the "Crescent City" at 8:pm. You'll see Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live In New Orleans performing in their prime.

No Grey hair and tons of energy that you can only experience by seeing. If you have ever heard the music from the Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live In New Orleans cd or album, you still owe your eyeballs a little "sumpn', sumpn'! You know wha' I mean?

Is there a way to listen to a New Orleans radio channel in my car even though I moved to MD?
I was wondering if there was a way I'd be able to listen to Q93.3 in my car even though I moved to Laurel, MD. I know there's things like XM radio, and Sirius Satellite, but I don't know exactly what they are. Instead of researching it myself, I figured I'd just ask here. I can listen online when I'm on the computer at home, but the only real time I feel like listening is while I drive.
