New Orleans Apartments?
I am single 25 yr male relocating to New Orleans for a new job. The job is near Audubon Park. I do have a car. However, I am trying to find affordable housing, > $900 (utilities included). I am trying to debate whether staying in Uptown, Garden District, Midtown, or Metairie. It seems as if apartments are higher than expected closer to the city!!! I do want to experience the city and all it has to offer (nightlife, festivals, food, shows...etc). I figure the less I spend on housing, the more $$$ to enjoy the city. I am coming August 27th - 30th to check these places out.
My choices for apartments: These are 1 bd / 1 bth prices without utilities.
1) The Saulet Apt. (Garden) - $1020
2) Falstaff Apt. (Midtown) - $750
3) River Garden (Garden) - $950
4) Fox Run (Metairie)- $750
5) Gatehouse (Metairie)- $750
Does anyone have thoughts on these apartments? Or know of any other apartments that I should check out while in the city? I still want to be able to save $$$ plus have $$ to enjoy all the different things going on in the city. But is it worth it to pay $1000 + utilities to stay in the Garden district or near Magazine street? What would you advise for single young professional male moving to the city?
