Satellite phone/ Cingular Wirless Priority Services?
I live in new orleans, and the last time i evacuated, i and the rest of the 504(new Orleans area code) and surrounding new orleans area code cell phones no longer worked after the storm.
I have a cingular phone, and yes, ALL phones did not work.
The reason is because your phone goes through the towers in the area you are at, then goes home, New orleans, then routes to where the person you are calling is.
The towers in new orleans were not only destroyed, but OVERFLOWED with calls.
So next hurricane season, which is now, i want to be able to make calls.
So i am going over the satellite phone, or Cingular wireless priority services.
I havent found anything reasonable prices for a satellite phone, and Cingular Wireless priority you need to be in the federal government, but we can see about that ;p. That costs 10$ for activation, and a couple extra cents a call.
So does anyone know of any other options, or way arounds?

I was watching Fox News and they showed a 85 & 90 yr old couple being placed back in their home @ New Orleans?
Now before you are quick to judge my question. Here we have an international news network covering this story. That's not an issue, my issue is all the hard work that went into placing this couple back into their home was done in vein. They are old and one is bound to being in his bed and she will not be able to take care of him. Couldn't these efforts been used to get a family ya know mom, dad and kids into this house so they can get their lives back on track. Once again not trying to be a jerk but really examine where I'm going with this. This couple is in their twilight years and can't take care of each other or themselves shouldn't they be in a nursing home? And for all you left wing racist I don't care what race the family would be that moved in either, so don't even try introducing that crap into the equation. What do you all think?
